Our Client Needs
Basic Needs
Our clients require meals, and various other items such as diapers, toys, children’s books, Bibles, blankets, coats, caps, gloves, school supplies; and many daily supplies we take for granted. Please contact Betty Fry about donations, 303-237-0443
Schooling Assistance for Their Children
In the near future we will be teaming up with Whiz Kids, a program where 25 children of homeless families are tutored per week. They will be receiving personalized attention beginning in October, 2006, at the Civic Center downtown. This program is being sponsored by the mayor’s office. We will refer children to them and help feed these children and their families during the tutoring program. They will also be allowed to enjoy shower facilities there.
Encouragement
Mean Street volunteers talk with each individual or family about their needs, gives them sandwiches/burritos, and encouragement. They can also call the Mean Street staff during the week for follow-up help, such as large food baskets, clothes, delivered to them, and mentoring & prayer (if requested).
Self Help
Mean Street also passes out hundreds of copies of a comprehensive, up-to-date resource guide containing contact information for numerous agencies and ministries that help with the many different needs of the homeless and poor.
Housing Assistance
For families meeting certain criteria, the goal of the Ministry is to synergize with other missions to supply first-month’s rent and deposit, and help them find and furnish an apartment from the Ministry’s food, clothing, and furniture banks. The Ministry also assigns them trained family mentors to help with the transition and encourage a successful, long-lasting transfer to an apartment.
Try A Little Kindness

If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he's sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and stay you're going the wrong way

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyon
e to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets

Don't walk around th
e down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Will help someone along
their way

You got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little k
indness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow-minded pe
ople on the narrow-minded streets

You got to try a little
kindness
Yes show a little kind
ness
Just shine your light f
or everyone to see
And if you try a little
kindness
Then you'll overlook
the blindness
Of narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets
